ALFA ROMEO 4C FITMENT

The Alfa Romeo 4C (2013–2020) is one of the most extreme lightweight sports cars ever mass-produced. Its carbon fiber monocoque tub and turbocharged 1.75L four-cylinder create a car weighing just 2,465 lbs — less than a Mazda Miata — with 237 hp and a mid-engine layout. It uses a 5x98 bolt pattern with a 58.1mm center bore — a distinctly Italian specification shared with very few other vehicles. On a car with a carbon tub, every pound of unsprung weight saved is amplified — the stiff chassis transmits every improvement directly to the driver.

Rare Bolt Pattern: 5x98 is an Italian specification — most aftermarket wheels are NOT available in this spec. Grip Theory machines every wheel to order, so 5x98 is no obstacle.

The 4C ships with a dramatic 18/19 stagger from the factory — the narrow front for razor-sharp steering, the wider rear for mid-engine traction. Maintaining this split preserves the car's engineered balance.

Why this setup: The 4C's factory cast wheels weigh approximately 22 lbs each. A forged replacement saves 6–8 lbs per corner — an enormous improvement on a 2,465 lb car. The carbon tub is extremely stiff, so unsprung weight savings translate directly to improved ride quality, turn-in response, and braking feel. Keep front offsets at ET30+ to clear the brake calipers. The 205/215mm front tire keeps the front end light — on a mid-engine car, the front axle carries minimal weight.

18" Square — Autocross Configuration

For autocross and tight technical circuits, a square 18" setup sacrifices some rear traction for dramatically improved rotation and more predictable limit handling.

  • Track Tires (200TW): 225/40R18 Square

Why this setup: A square setup creates a more neutral, rotatable car — essential for autocross where rapid direction changes matter more than straight-line traction. The 225mm tire on all four corners provides abundant grip for the 4C's modest weight. Running identical tires simplifies management and allows rotation. The rear fenders accommodate 8" wide wheels without modification.

4C Tire Selection Guide

  • Street Performance: Michelin Pilot Sport 4 (205/40R18 + 235/35R19) — excellent grip with a progressive breakaway that suits the 4C's reactive, lightweight character.
  • Track Day (200TW): Yokohama Advan A052 (225/40R18 square) — highest peak grip. The 4C on A052s is devastatingly fast for its power output.
  • Canyon/Spirited: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 — maximum dry grip for backroad enthusiasts. The stiff sidewall matches the 4C's carbon tub stiffness.
