MINI COOPER S FITMENT
The Mini Cooper S F56 (2014–2024) adds a turbocharged 2.0L B48 engine producing 189 hp and larger brakes to the already nimble F56 platform. It uses a 5x112 bolt pattern with a 66.6mm center bore — shared with BMW and modern Volkswagen. The Cooper S occupies a sweet spot in the enthusiast world — fast enough for serious fun, light enough (~2,900 lbs) to be thrown around, and affordable enough to be a dedicated track toy. Forged wheels help extract the maximum from this platform.
Quick Reference
Bolt Pattern: 5x112 | Center Bore: 66.6mm | Hub Type: Ball Seat | Lug Torque: 140 Nm (103 ft-lb)
Compatibility: Same bolt pattern as base Cooper F56 and JCW — wheels are interchangeable across the F56 lineup. R56 and earlier Minis used 4x100.
18" Square — Street Standard
18 inches fills the Cooper S's fenders aggressively and clears the uprated brakes. It's the minimum diameter recommended for the Cooper S — the larger brake calipers make 17" clearance tight.
01
18" Flush Square
The aggressive street setup that fills the fenders and clears the uprated brakes.
- Recommended Size: 18x8 ET45 all around
- Street Tires: 225/40R18 Square
- Performance Tires: 235/35R18 Square (maximum width without pulling fenders)
Why this setup: ET45 positions the 8" wheel flush with the Cooper S's fender line. The 225mm tire provides more than enough grip for 189 hp — the FWD Cooper S is rarely traction-limited at this width. A forged 18x8 under 16 lbs replaces the factory 20+ lb cast wheels — a dramatic improvement in acceleration, braking, and NVH on a car this light.
17" Square — Track Configuration
17 inches provides access to the widest range of autocross and HPDE tire compounds while reducing unsprung weight to the absolute minimum.
02
17" Lightweight Track Square
The autocross and HPDE setup — maximum grip, minimum weight.
- Recommended Size: 17x8 ET45 all around
- Track Tires (200TW): 225/45R17 or 235/45R17 Square
Why this setup: 17" clears the Cooper S brakes but it's tight — verify spoke geometry. The taller 45-series sidewall provides better curbing protection and more compliant handling. A forged 17x8 under 15 lbs with a 200TW 225 tire transforms the Cooper S into a legitimate autocross contender.
