CHEVROLET C8 CORVETTE STINGRAY / Z51 FITMENT

The standard C8 Stingray and Z51 represent GM's first mid-engine Corvette — a layout that fundamentally changes how the car responds to wheel and tire upgrades. With the LT2 V8 positioned behind the driver, the front axle carries significantly less weight than a traditional front-engine layout. This makes lightweight forged front wheels especially beneficial — every gram saved at the front dramatically improves turn-in response, steering feel, and braking performance. The C8 Stingray uses a narrower body than the Z06 widebody, requiring higher offsets to achieve a flush fitment.

Quick Reference
Bolt Pattern: 5x120  |  Center Bore: 70.3mm  |  Hub Type: Conical Seat  |  Lug Torque: 135 Nm (100 ft-lb)
Important: The C8's high offsets are unique. Do not assume wheels from other 5x120 platforms (BMWs, Camaros) will fit without confirming offsets — the C8 requires ET45+ front and ET55+ rear.

19"/20" Factory Stagger — OEM+ Clean

Matching the factory stagger dimensions with a forged construction is the most popular upgrade path for the Stingray. This setup maintains the factory rolling diameters (keeping the traction control and stability systems calibrated correctly) while saving significant weight and improving brake cooling through open spoke designs.

01

19/20" OEM+ Stagger

A clean, conservative fitment that matches factory proportions with premium forged construction.

  • Recommended Front: 19x8.5 ET52
  • Recommended Rear: 20x11 ET65
  • Street Tires: 245/35R19 Front, 305/30R20 Rear
  • Performance Tires: 255/35R19 Front, 305/30R20 Rear

Why this setup: The factory offsets (ET52 front, ET65 rear) may seem extreme compared to European sports cars, but they're engineered specifically for the C8's narrow-body geometry. Maintaining these offsets ensures the tires sit perfectly within the fender wells without rubbing — even at full suspension compression and full steering lock. A forged wheel at these specs can save 8–12 lbs per corner versus the factory cast option, which on a mid-engine car translates directly into sharper dynamics.

19"/20" Aggressive Stagger — Mild Poke

For owners wanting a more aggressive, slightly wider stance without body modifications. This pushes the wheels outward by approximately 7–10mm per side, creating a subtle but noticeable fill in the fender wells that the factory fitment can't match.

02

19/20" Mild Poke Stagger

The lowest safe offsets for a no-modification aggressive stance.

  • Recommended Front: 19x9 ET45
  • Recommended Rear: 20x11 ET55
  • Street Tires: 255/35R19 Front, 305/30R20 Rear
  • Performance Tires: 265/35R19 Front, 315/30R20 Rear

Why this setup: Stepping from 8.5" to 9" front adds half an inch of wheel face, combined with the lower ET45 offset, this pushes the front wheel outward for a flush, purposeful look. The wider 255/265 front tire also provides noticeably better front-end grip — a meaningful improvement on a mid-engine car where the front tires are handling less weight. Minor rubbing may occur at full compression on rough surfaces. Lowering springs or coilovers will require further offset adjustments — consult with us before ordering if you're lowered.

C8 Stingray Tire Selection Guide

The Stingray's mid-engine balance makes tire selection especially impactful — the right compound transforms the car's character.

  • Street Performance: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S — the benchmark for daily-driven sports cars. Excellent wet grip, low noise, and a forgiving breakaway character that suits the C8's mid-engine dynamics.
  • Street/Track Hybrid: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 — significantly more grip than the PS4S in dry conditions. The factory tire on the Z51 package. Ideal for owners who attend occasional track days.
  • Track Day (200TW): Toyo Proxes R888R — a durable, forgiving track tire that provides consistent grip over long sessions. Better value than the A052 for Stingray owners who are building seat time.
  • All-Season: Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 — for owners who daily their C8 year-round, including light rain. Surprisingly strong dry performance for an all-season tire.

Understanding Offset on the C8 Stingray

The C8 Stingray has the highest factory offsets of any modern sports car — and there's a good engineering reason for it. The narrow-body Stingray doesn't have the widebody Z06's massive fender flares, so the wheels must sit further inboard to clear the bodywork.

  • Front ET45–ET55: ET52 is factory. Going below ET45 risks rubbing at full lock. Going above ET55 tucks the wheel too far inboard. There's a relatively narrow safe window for offset experimentation on the front.
  • Rear ET55–ET68: ET65 is factory. The rear has slightly more tolerance for lower offsets due to the wider rear track, but ET55 is the absolute floor without fender modifications.
  • Do not cross-shop: Because of these extreme offsets, C8 Stingray wheels are NOT interchangeable with other 5x120 vehicles (BMW, Camaro, C7 Corvette). Each of those platforms uses dramatically lower offsets that would cause the wheel to sit way too far outboard on the C8.
