CHEVROLET C8 CORVETTE Z06 / E-RAY / GRAND SPORT FITMENT

The C8 Z06 represents a quantum leap in American performance engineering. The flat-plane crank LT6 V8 revs to 8,600 RPM and makes 670 hp — demanding tires and wheels that can keep pace with the engine's ferocity. The widebody C8 chassis (shared by the Z06, E-Ray, and Grand Sport) features massive rear fenders designed to accommodate up to 345-width tires from the factory. Reducing unsprung weight through forged wheel upgrades is the single most impactful modification you can make on a car this capable.

Important: The C8 uses 5x120 (metric). Do NOT use C7 Corvette wheels — the C7 bolt pattern is 5x120.65 (imperial), which looks identical but will not properly seat.

20/21" Widebody Street Stagger

The definitive C8 widebody look — massive rear wheels that properly fill the aggressive fender flares.

  • Recommended Front: 20x10 ET30
  • Recommended Rear: 21x13 ET38
  • Street Tires: 275/30R20 Front, 345/25R21 Rear
  • Performance Tires: 285/30R20 Front, 345/25R21 Rear

Why this setup: The massive 13-inch rear wheel is essential to properly fill the Z06/E-Ray fenders — running anything narrower than 12.5" rear will create a visible gap that looks disproportionate. The 345-width rear tire provides an enormous contact patch that keeps the LT6's 670 hp planted. On the E-Ray, the front electric motor's instant torque also benefits from the wider 275/285 front tire. Switching from the factory cast wheels to forged can save 15–20 lbs per corner, which on a mid-engine car translates directly to sharper turn-in, shorter braking distances, and a noticeably more responsive chassis.

19"/20" Staggered Track

For dedicated track use and HPDE, dropping a diameter opens the door to more sidewall for curb compliance, better tire selection in racing compounds, and meaningful unsprung weight savings. The taller sidewall profile is also more forgiving over aggressive curbing and rough track surfaces — protecting both the tire and wheel.

More sidewall for track abuse, better tire selection in R-compound and slick categories.

  • Recommended Front: 19x10 ET35
  • Recommended Rear: 20x12 ET35
  • Track Tires (200TW): 285/35R19 Front, 335/30R20 Rear
  • R-Compound: 295/35R19 Front, 345/30R20 Rear
  • Brake Note: Confirm spoke clearance with the Z06's massive front calipers at 19 inches. Factory iron rotors and Carbon Ceramic Brakes (CCB) have different caliper geometries — CCB calipers are larger and may require specific spoke designs for clearance.

Why this setup: On a 3,400+ lb mid-engine car producing 670 hp, tire life at track speeds is a real concern. The taller sidewall of the 19/20" setup provides more rubber to absorb heat and mechanical stress, extending tire life during long HPDE sessions. The 12" rear wheel at 20" still provides enough width for a 335-345 width tire — more than enough to deploy the LT6's power without spinning the rears on corner exit.

C8 Widebody Tire Selection Guide

The C8 Z06's mid-engine layout and extreme power demand tires that can handle high heat loads and lateral forces.

  • Street Performance: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S — the default choice. Outstanding wet and dry grip, reasonable tread life, and the right balance of comfort and performance for a car you drive on the street.
  • Street/Track Hybrid: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 — the factory tire on the Z06. Significantly more grip than the PS4S, but with faster wear and reduced wet performance. Best suited for owners who drive aggressively in dry conditions.
  • Track Day (200TW): Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R — incredible grip and heat tolerance designed specifically for Corvette-class vehicles. Also available in the massive 345-width rear size.
  • Competition: Hoosier R7 or Nankang AR-1 — for time attack and club racing. The Hoosier offers higher peak grip; the Nankang provides better durability over multi-stint events.

Understanding Offset on the C8 Widebody

The C8 widebody's fender flares are significantly wider than the standard Stingray, which means lower offsets are required to fill them properly.

  • Front ET28–ET35: ET30 is the sweet spot for a flush front fitment on the widebody. The front end is narrower than the rear, so you don't need extremely low offsets to fill the fender.
  • Rear ET35–ET42: The massive 13" rear wheel needs relatively high offsets (ET38 is standard) because the wheel is already so wide that even at ET38, the outer lip extends well past the hub centerline.
  • Width matters more than offset: On the C8 widebody, going from a 12" to a 13" rear wheel adds 12.7mm of outboard wheel face. This is the primary way to fill the rear fenders — not by running lower offsets.
