BMW F80 M3 & F82 M4 FITMENT
The F8X generation M3 and M4 are revered for their aggressive widebody styling and the legendary S55 twin-turbo inline-six. With massive rear fender flares borrowed from the motorsport program and a suspension geometry optimized for high-speed stability, the F80/F82 rewards properly fitted wheels with a dramatic visual transformation and noticeably sharper dynamics. This is the last generation of M3/M4 to use the traditional 5x120 bolt pattern — a critical detail when ordering.
Quick Reference
Bolt Pattern: 5x120 | Center Bore: 72.56mm | Hub Type: Conical Seat | Lug Torque: 140 Nm (103 ft-lb)
19" Staggered — The Gold Standard
The 19-inch staggered setup is the definitive F8X configuration. It provides the perfect balance of ride compliance on rough surfaces, access to the best performance tires, and meaningful weight savings over the factory cast wheels. This is the recommended setup for drivers who use their car hard on both the street and track.
01
19" Street & Track Stagger
The gold standard for the F8X. A staggered 19-inch setup provides the perfect balance of ride compliance, track tire availability, and weight reduction — while clearing both the standard blue M-Sport brakes and the gold Carbon Ceramic Brakes (CCB).
- Recommended Front: 19x9.5 ET22
- Recommended Rear: 19x10.5 ET25 or 19x11 ET25
- Street Tires: 265/35R19 Front, 295/30R19 Rear
- Aggressive Tires: 275/35R19 Front, 305/30R19 Rear
Why this setup: The 9.5" front provides a significantly wider contact patch than the factory 9" wheel, dramatically improving front-end grip and turn-in response. Running 10.5" or 11" rear wheels takes full advantage of the M3/M4's massive rear fender flares, creating that defining flush stance while putting more rubber on the road where the S55's 425+ hp is actually applied. The 19-inch diameter offers the best sidewall height for real-world road imperfections — stiff enough for track precision but compliant enough for daily driving on imperfect surfaces.
20" Staggered — Maximum Visual Impact
For owners who prioritize the most aggressive street presence, a 20-inch staggered setup fills the massive rear arches to their limit and creates an unmistakable road presence. The thinner sidewall allows more of the wheel face to be visible, showcasing deep concavity and spoke design. This setup is best suited for street-focused builds and show cars.
02
20" Staggered Street
Unmatched visual impact with a dramatic low-profile tire look.
- Recommended Front: 20x9.5 ET22
- Recommended Rear: 20x11 ET25
- Street Tires: 265/30R20 Front, 295/25R20 or 305/25R20 Rear
Why this setup: The 20-inch diameter maximizes the visible wheel face, which is ideal for showcasing deep concavity on designs like the GT-01. The trade-off is a stiffer ride due to less sidewall, making this less forgiving on broken pavement. For owners on coilovers who have already accepted a firmer ride, this is the natural evolution of the build.
19"/20" GTS-Style Mixed Stagger
Inspired by the ultra-rare BMW M4 GTS, this setup combines a 19-inch front for lightweight steering response with a 20-inch rear for maximum visual fill. It's the best of both worlds — a lightweight, compliant front axle paired with an aggressive rear stance.
03
19/20" GTS Mixed Stagger
A setup that prioritizes front-end agility while preserving the dramatic rear presence of a 20-inch wheel.
- Recommended Front: 19x9.5 ET22
- Recommended Rear: 20x11 ET25
- Tires: 265/35R19 Front, 295/25R20 or 305/25R20 Rear
- Note: Confirm rolling diameter compatibility — the 265/35R19 and 295/25R20 are within 1% of each other, which keeps the differential and stability systems happy.

Tire Selection Guide
The F8X responds extremely well to tire upgrades. The right compound transforms the car's character.
- Street Performance: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S — exceptional wet and dry grip, low noise, long life. The default recommendation for any build.
- Street/Track Hybrid: Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 — slightly firmer sidewall than the PS4S, excellent turn-in, and strong value for money.
- Track Day (200TW): Yokohama Advan A052 — the highest grip 200TW tire available. Pairs perfectly with the S55's power delivery for track events.
- Budget Track: Toyo Proxes R888R — more forgiving than the A052 and lasts significantly longer. Ideal for HPDE and driver's education events where you're learning the car's limits.
Understanding Offset on the F8X
The F80 M3 and F82 M4 have the widest rear fender flares of any non-M5 BMW of this era. This creates a unique challenge: the front and rear require very different offsets to achieve a flush fitment.
- Front ET20–ET25: Produces a flush fitment that aligns the wheel lip with the front fender edge. Going below ET18 risks contact with the inner fender liner at full steering lock, especially if lowered.
- Rear ET22–ET28: The massive rear flares mean you can run relatively low offsets without excessive poke. ET25 is the sweet spot for a flush, OEM+ appearance. ET22 will sit slightly more aggressive.
- Effect of width change: Stepping from a 10.5" to an 11" rear adds ~6.35mm of outboard lip. Compensate with +3mm of offset (e.g., ET25 on 10.5" → ET28 on 11") to maintain the same fender position.
Bolt Pattern Reminder: The F80 M3 and F82 M4 use the classic 5x120 bolt pattern with a 72.56mm center bore. These are NOT interchangeable with the newer G8X generation (5x112). Always verify your generation before ordering.
