PORSCHE 911 NARROW BODY FITMENT
The Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S — commonly referred to as "Narrow Body" (NB) models — require special attention when it comes to wheel fitment. While the front fenders are similar across the 911 lineup, the rear quarter panels on RWD Carrera models are significantly narrower than their C4S, Turbo, and GT3 siblings. This means the rear wheels must run higher positive offsets (ET60–ET70) to sit properly within the bodywork. Getting this wrong results in wheels that stick out past the fender or, worse, contact the body during suspension compression.

Critical: Narrow Body and Wide Body 911s require DIFFERENT offsets. Do not attempt to use Wide Body wheels (ET40–50) on a Narrow Body car — they will protrude past the fenders.
997 Generation (2005–2012)
The 997 Carrera and Carrera S established the modern 911 Narrow Body fitment standard. These cars run a 19-inch staggered setup from the factory, with generous front fender clearance but tight rear quarters that demand high offsets.

997 NB — 19" Staggered
The standard setup for 997 Carrera and Carrera S models.
- Recommended Front: 19x8.5 ET50
- Recommended Rear: 19x11 ET67
- Street Tires: 235/35R19 Front, 295/30R19 Rear
- Performance Tires: 245/35R19 Front, 305/30R19 Rear
Why this setup: The 997's narrow rear body constrains the outer edge of the wheel, requiring a high ET67 rear offset to keep the tire tucked under the fender. Despite the high offset, an 11" wide rear wheel still provides a massive 295–305mm rear contact patch. The key benefit of going forged on the 997 is weight — the factory cast wheels are notoriously heavy (24+ lbs rear), and a forged replacement can save 6–8 lbs per corner. On a rear-engine car, that weight savings at the rear axle dramatically improves turn-in response and reduces the pendulum effect.
991 Generation (2012–2019)
The 991 Carrera and Carrera S moved to 20-inch staggered setups from the factory. The wider platform and updated suspension geometry provide slightly more rear clearance than the 997, but high offsets are still mandatory.

991 NB — 20" Staggered
The sweet spot for visual impact and performance on the 991 platform.
- Recommended Front: 20x8.5 ET50 or 20x9 ET50
- Recommended Rear: 20x11 ET60 or 20x11.5 ET63
- Street Tires: 245/35R20 Front, 305/30R20 Rear
- Performance Tires: 255/35R20 Front, 305/30R20 Rear
Why this setup: The 991's slightly wider platform gives you a few more millimeters of rear clearance compared to the 997. Running a 20" diameter displays more wheel face, showcasing spoke design and deep concavity even at these high offsets. Our two-piece forged construction maximizes concavity within the offset constraints — so even at ET60, the wheel face has visible depth and character rather than looking flat.
992 Generation (2020+)
Porsche transitioned the 992 to a "wide-body only" aesthetic strategy — meaning even the standard Carrera and Carrera S share the wider rear bodywork of the 4S. However, the RWD 992 Carrera still uses narrower rear suspension arms, so while the body is wider, the wheel still needs to sit at a specific position relative to the hub.

992 Carrera — 20/21" Staggered
The 992's mixed-diameter stagger creates a dramatic visual stance.
- Recommended Front: 20x8.5 ET50
- Recommended Rear: 21x11.5 ET55
- Street Tires: 245/35R20 Front, 305/30R21 Rear
Why this setup: The 992's wider rear body (shared with C4S) gives you more offset flexibility than the 991 NB. ET55 rear sits flush within the 992's fender line. The mixed 20/21 diameter matches the factory proportions, keeping the speedometer and stability systems calibrated. Switching to forged wheels on the 992 saves 5–7 lbs per corner versus the factory forged option — meaningful on a car that already has excellent dynamics.

911 NB Tire Selection Guide
The rear-engine 911 rewards tires that provide strong rear grip with predictable, progressive breakaway characteristics.
- Street Performance: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S — the default recommendation for any street-driven 911. Exceptional wet grip and a progressive limit that suits the rear-engine layout perfectly.
- Street/Track Hybrid: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 — significantly more dry grip, but with reduced wet performance. Ideal for canyon roads and occasional track days in dry weather.
- Track Day (200TW): Yokohama Advan A052 — the highest grip 200TW option. Transforms the 911 into a serious track contender.
