NISSAN SILVIA / 240SX (S-CHASSIS) FITMENT
The S-Chassis — S13 Silvia/240SX, S14 Zenki/Kouki, and S15 Spec-R — is the foundation of global drift culture. The SR20DET (or KA24DE in USDM 240SX models) sits in a lightweight, rear-wheel-drive chassis with simple, rebuildable suspension geometry that makes these cars infinitely customizable. The relatively generous fender clearances and predictable MacPherson strut / multi-link suspension make the S-Chassis one of the most versatile platforms for aggressive wheel fitments — from subtle flush street builds to extreme negative-camber drift machines.

Note on early S13: Some early S13 240SX models came with 4-lug hubs. Most drift and track builds convert to the 5-lug setup (5x114.3) from the S14/S15 for wider wheel and brake upgrade compatibility.
18" Square — Drift & Street Standard
The drift community has standardized on 18x9.5 as the go-to S-Chassis wheel size. Low offsets fill factory metal fenders aggressively, and the 18" diameter provides the ideal balance of visual impact and tire selection.

18" Aggressive Square
Low offsets to fill factory metal or aftermarket overfenders — the drift standard.
- Recommended Size: 18x9.5 ET15 all around
- Street Tires: 265/35R18 Square
- Drift Tires: 235/40R18 or 245/40R18 Square (narrower for easier initiation)
Why this setup: ET15 pushes the wheel outward to sit flush-to-slightly-poked on stock S14/S15 fenders. The low offset showcases maximum spoke depth and concavity — the S-Chassis community values aggressive wheel presentation as much as performance. For grip-focused builds, the 265mm tire on a 9.5" wheel provides an excellent contact patch for the chassis's 2,600–2,800 lb weight. For drift builds, many drivers run narrower 235/245mm tires for easier initiation and more predictable slide angle — wider tires grip too hard and make sustained drift angles more difficult.
17" Square — Grip & Time Attack
For time attack and grip-focused builds where lap times matter more than style, 17-inch wheels provide more sidewall, lighter weight, and the widest selection of affordable track tires.

Why this setup: A lightweight forged 17x9 under 15 lbs is transformative on a 2,600 lb car. The S-Chassis's light weight means the suspension doesn't need to work as hard — lighter wheels allow the shocks to react faster to surface changes, providing more mechanical grip. The 255mm tire provides more than enough grip for an SR20DET's 200–250 hp (or a KA24DE's 155 hp). Even highly modified SR20s pushing 400+ hp are well-served by 255mm tires — the chassis's light weight means you're rarely traction-limited at these widths.

S-Chassis Tire Selection Guide
- Street Performance: Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 (265/35R18) — excellent dry grip at a strong value. The firm sidewall provides crisp turn-in that matches the S-Chassis's responsive steering.
- Track Day (200TW): Yokohama Advan A052 (255/40R17 square) — highest peak grip. The S-Chassis on A052s is devastatingly fast for its weight class.
- Drift (Rear): Federal 595RS-RR (235/40R18) — the drift community standard. Affordable, predictable slide characteristics, and widely available. Many pro drifters run these as a rear-only tire with a grippier front.
- Drift (Front): Yokohama Advan A052 or Falken RT660 (265/35R18) — grippy front tires give the driver more steering authority during slides.
S13 vs S14 vs S15 — Fitment Differences
- S13: Narrowest fenders. ET15 may require minor fender rolling. ET20+ is safe on stock fenders. Early models may need 4-to-5-lug conversion.
- S14: Slightly wider fenders than the S13. ET15 fits stock fenders on most S14 Kouki models without modification.
- S15: Widest stock fenders of the three. ET10 is achievable on stock metal. The S15's more modern design provides the most generous clearances.
- Overfenders: With aftermarket overfenders (Rocket Bunny, Origin Lab, etc.), offsets as low as ET0 or even negative offsets are possible. Consult the fender manufacturer's spec sheets for recommended wheel sizing.
