BMW E36 3 SERIES FITMENT (NON-M)
The E36 generation (1992–1999) established the modern 3 Series blueprint — the first 3 Series with multi-link rear suspension, the first with airbags, and the car that brought BMW to the American mainstream. The non-M E36 uses a 5x120 bolt pattern with a 72.56mm center bore. Whether you have a 325i with the silky M50/M52 inline-six or a 328i with the later M52, these cars are lightweight (2,900–3,200 lbs), rear-wheel-drive, and beautifully balanced. The tight rear fender clearances are the primary fitment challenge.

18 inches provides the perfect visual proportion for the E36 — large enough to look modern while preserving the car's classic lines. The E36's tight rear fenders require higher rear offsets than most BMW owners expect.

The best balance of modern styling and driving dynamics for the E36.
- Recommended Front: 18x8.5 ET35
- Recommended Rear: 18x9.5 ET45
- Street Tires: 225/40R18 Front, 245/35R18 Rear
- Performance Tires: 235/40R18 Front, 255/35R18 Rear
- Note: The higher rear offset (ET45) is required by the E36's tight rear fender clearances. Minor fender rolling may be needed depending on tire brand and ride height.
Why this setup: The E36's non-M rear fenders are significantly tighter than the M3's widebody — ET45 rear is necessary to keep the 9.5" wheel from contacting the inner fender. The 245/255mm rear tire provides excellent traction for the M50/M52's 189–193 hp. On a 3,000 lb car, forged wheels saving 4–5 lbs per corner create a noticeable improvement in the E36's already-precise steering feel and its legendary balanced handling.

Why this setup: The E36's 50/50 weight distribution is best exploited with equal-width tires. The 8.5" width at ET35 clears the front struts and fits within the tight rear arches without modification. A forged 18x8.5 at ~17 lbs creates a car that responds to inputs with the precision of a well-sorted race car.
