BMW F30 / F31 / F34 3 SERIES FITMENT
The F30 (Sedan), F31 (Touring), and F34 (Gran Turismo) are BMW's most popular F-generation 3 Series. Using the classic 5x120 bolt pattern, these cars have an enormous aftermarket wheel ecosystem. The 328i and 340i share identical wheel well dimensions, but the 340i's B58 inline-six (320 hp) benefits meaningfully from wider tires. A wheel upgrade is the single most impactful visual modification you can make to an F30 — properly fitted wheels transform the car from anonymous to commanding.
Quick Reference
Bolt Pattern: 5x120 | Center Bore: 72.56mm | Hub Type: Conical Seat | Lug Torque: 120 Nm (89 ft-lb)
Note: Newer G20-generation 5x112 wheels will NOT fit the F30. Always confirm your chassis code before ordering.
19" Staggered — The Sweet Spot
A staggered 19-inch setup is the most popular configuration for the F30 platform. It fills the fender wells aggressively, provides excellent tire selection, and maintains the comfortable ride quality that makes the 3 Series a great daily driver.
01
19" Staggered Daily
The ideal balance of comfort, weight, and aggressive aesthetics.
- Recommended Front: 19x8.5 ET35
- Recommended Rear: 19x9.5 ET42
- Street Tires: 235/40R19 Front, 265/35R19 Rear
- Performance Tires: 245/40R19 Front, 275/35R19 Rear
Why this setup: ET35 front provides a flush stance that sits perfectly at the F30's fender edge. ET42 rear keeps the wider wheel properly tucked under the rear quarter panel — the F30's rear clearances are tighter than you'd expect for a mid-size sedan. The stagger is especially beneficial for 340i owners — the wider 265/275mm rear tire gives the B58's 320 hp a proper contact patch, reducing traction control intervention and improving corner exit speed on spirited drives.
20" Staggered — Maximum Visual Impact
For owners who prioritize the most dramatic visual transformation, 20-inch wheels create a stunning, low-profile presence on the F30's clean body lines.
02
20" Staggered Street
For a stunning, flush look that completely transforms the car.
- Recommended Front: 20x8.5 ET35
- Recommended Rear: 20x9.5 ET42
- Tires: 235/35R20 Front, 275/30R20 Rear
Why this setup: The 20" diameter maximizes visible spoke design and creates a dramatic visual statement. The trade-off is reduced sidewall height — the 30-series rear tire provides less pothole protection. Best suited for smooth roads and cars that prioritize appearance. Consider adding the factory adaptive dampers (if available for your model year) to maintain ride quality.
19" Square — Balanced Performance
For drivers who value neutral handling and want to rotate tires front to rear, a square setup is the practical performance choice.
03
19" Square Setup
Neutral handling and extended tire life through rotation.
- Recommended Size: 19x8.5 ET35 all around
- Street Tires: 235/40R19 Square
- Performance Tires: 245/35R19 Square
Why this setup: Equal-width tires front and rear eliminate the mild understeer inherent in staggered configurations. On the F30's balanced chassis, a square setup creates a neutral, exploitable balance that's more engaging on backroads. The 235/245mm width provides more than enough grip for the 328i/340i power levels. Running square allows full front-to-rear tire rotation, extending tread life by 30–50%.
