BMW F87 M2 FITMENT
The F87 M2 and M2 Competition are the last of BMW's compact M cars on the classic 5x120 bolt pattern. With the N55 (M2) or S55 (M2 Competition) twin-turbo inline-six producing 365–405 hp in a compact, lightweight chassis, these cars deliver an intensity of driving experience that larger M cars can't match. The F87 has tighter fender clearances than the G87 or the larger F8X M3/M4, requiring precise offsets — especially when stepping up tire widths to handle the turbocharged torque.

Brake Warning: The M2 Competition's massive "2NH" brakes severely limit 18" wheel options. We strongly recommend staying with 19" to ensure barrel clearance.
19" Staggered — Street Standard
Most F87 owners stick to 19-inch wheels for good reason — they preserve ride quality, access a wide variety of 200TW track tires, and perfectly clear the massive factory brakes. The F87's fenders are narrower than the M3/M4, requiring different front and rear offsets for a flush fitment.

Why this setup: The F87's front fenders accommodate lower offsets (ET28) without issue, creating a flush, aggressive front stance. The rear is tighter — the M2's rear fenders, while wider than a standard 2 Series, aren't as flared as the M3/M4. ET40 rear keeps the wheel properly tucked under the fender lip at factory ride height. The stagger biases grip to the rear, essential for a 365–405 hp RWD car with a short wheelbase that wants to rotate enthusiastically under power.
19" Square — Track Performance
A square setup is the performance standard for F87 track cars. Equal-width tires maximize turn-in, allow full front-to-rear rotation, and create the neutral balance that the M2's short wheelbase rewards.

- Recommended Size: 19x10 ET25 all around
- Track Tires (200TW): 275/30R19 Square
- R-Compound: 285/30R19 Square
- Alignment Note: Front camber plates are highly recommended for clearing the 10" front wheel with sticky tires. Target -2.5° to -3° front camber.
Why this setup: The F87 M2's short wheelbase creates faster weight transfer than the M3/M4 — a square setup ensures the front and rear axles share the cornering load equally, creating a car that's predictable and exploitable at the limit. The 275mm tire on a 10" wheel provides optimal sidewall support without excessive stretch, ensuring the tire carcass works as designed for maximum grip and consistent feel.

F87 M2 Tire Selection Guide
- Street Performance: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (265/30R19 + 295/30R19) — the daily benchmark. Low noise, excellent wet grip, and a predictable breakaway.
- Street/Track Hybrid: Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 (275/30R19 + 305/30R19) — firmer sidewall for sharper turn-in. Excellent dry grip at a strong value.
- Track Day (200TW): Yokohama Advan A052 (275/30R19 square) — highest peak grip. The M2 on A052s is one of the most capable compact track cars available.
- Budget Track: Toyo Proxes R888R (275/30R19 square) — more forgiving and longer-lasting. Ideal for building seat time at HPDE events.
Understanding Offset on the F87 M2
The F87's compact dimensions create a unique offset challenge — the front is more forgiving than the rear.
- Front ET25–ET32: ET28 is the sweet spot for flush. The F87's front fenders are generous for a compact car. Going below ET22 risks inner fender liner contact at full steering lock.
- Rear ET38–ET48: The rear is tighter than you'd expect. ET40 is ideal for flush. ET45 tucks slightly. Going below ET35 rear requires fender rolling or pulling.
- M2 vs M2 Competition: Both share identical fender clearances, but the Competition's larger brakes limit 18" wheel options. Always confirm brake caliper dimensions if considering 18".
