BMW G87 M2 FITMENT

The G87 M2 shares its chassis architecture with the G80 M3, inheriting the S58 twin-turbo inline-six producing 453 hp and the modern 5x112 bolt pattern. Despite its smaller footprint, the G87 features dramatically flared fender arches that accommodate remarkably wide wheels — making it one of the most aggressive-looking compact sports cars on the road. The combination of M3-level power in a shorter wheelbase creates a car that is incredibly responsive to wheel upgrades.

Quick Reference
Bolt Pattern: 5x112  |  Center Bore: 66.5mm  |  Hub Type: Conical Seat  |  Lug Torque: 140 Nm (103 ft-lb)
Important: The G87 uses 5x112 — NOT the 5x120 of the previous F87 M2. These wheels are not interchangeable.

19"/20" Factory Stagger — Street Standard

The factory G87 M2 ships with a 19/20 staggered setup, identical in concept to the G80 M3. This preserves the factory rolling ratios and keeps the xDrive system (if equipped via coding) and stability systems calibrated correctly.

01

19/20" Staggered Street

The definitive G87 setup for street driving, canyon carving, and spirited daily use.

  • Recommended Front: 19x10 ET25
  • Recommended Rear: 20x11 ET25
  • Street Tires: 275/35R19 Front, 295/30R20 Rear
  • Aggressive Tires: 285/35R19 Front, 305/30R20 Rear

Why this setup: The 19" front keeps unsprung weight low where the M2's short wheelbase makes steering feel most critical. The 20" rear fills the G87's flared arches and provides the visual aggression the car's design demands. On a car with 453 hp and a shorter wheelbase than the M3, rear traction is the limiting factor — the wider 295/305 rear tire gives you confidence to stay on the power through corner exits without the rear stepping out unexpectedly.

19" Square — Track Performance

For owners who prioritize lap times, a 19-inch square setup is the performance standard. Equal-width tires allow rotation, reduce understeer, and give access to the best 200TW track tires in the 285mm width class.

02

19" Square Track

Maximum grip and neutral balance for serious track work.

  • Recommended Size: 19x10.5 ET28 all around
  • Track Tires (200TW): 285/35R19 Square
  • R-Compound: 295/30R19 Square
  • Alignment Note: Front camber plates recommended. Target -2.5° to -3.5° for optimal tire wear and grip with wide, sticky tires.

Why this setup: The G87's shorter wheelbase makes it more responsive to weight transfer than the M3 — this means the car changes direction faster but is also more sensitive to balance issues. A square setup ensures equal grip front and rear, creating a neutral car that rotates predictably on throttle. The 19" diameter provides more sidewall for curb compliance and the taller tire absorbs rough track surfaces that would unsettle the chassis on stiffer 20" setups.

G87 M2 Tire Selection Guide

  • Street Performance: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S — the benchmark for any street-driven M car. Exceptional wet grip and progressive breakaway.
  • Street/Track Hybrid: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 — significantly more dry grip. The aggressive sidewall matches the M2's sharp character.
  • Track Day (200TW): Yokohama Advan A052 — highest peak grip. Transforms the compact M2 into a genuine time attack weapon.
  • Budget Track: Toyo Proxes R888R — more forgiving and longer-lasting than the A052. Ideal for HPDE events.
