MAZDA MIATA (NC) FITMENT
The NC Miata (2006–2015) is the middle child of the Miata lineup — larger and stiffer than the NA/NB, but still fundamentally a lightweight, naturally aspirated, rear-wheel-drive roadster. Critically, the NC switched to a 5x114.3 bolt pattern, opening up a vastly wider world of aftermarket wheel options compared to the 4x100 NA/NB. The NC shares its hub configuration with the RX-8, making cross-shopping easy. At approximately 2,500 lbs, it's the heaviest of the classic Miata generations, making it especially responsive to unsprung weight reduction.

17" Square — Street Standard
17 inches is the sweet spot for the NC — large enough to fill the fenders aggressively and look modern, but small enough to maintain reasonable sidewall height and keep unsprung weight manageable.

Why this setup: ET45 positions the 9" wheel flush with the NC's fender lips — the NC requires higher offsets than the NA/NB because its suspension geometry and fender profiles are different. The 245mm tire provides significantly more grip than the factory 205mm spec while remaining proportional to the car's 167 hp and 2,500 lb weight. The NC's stiffer chassis responds particularly well to wider tires — where the NA/NB flexes and absorbs imprecision, the NC transmits everything to the contact patches, rewarding precise tire selection.
16" Square — Lightweight Track
For autocross and track day builds where weight reduction and tire selection are paramount, the lighter 16-inch setup provides maximum responsiveness.

- Track Tires (200TW): 225/50R16 Square
- R-Compound: 245/45R16 Square
Why this setup: A lightweight forged 16x8 under 14 lbs is a revelation on the NC. The taller 50-series sidewall provides better mechanical grip and more compliance over rough track surfaces. The 225mm tire at 16" is the sweet spot for the NC's modest power output — it provides more than enough grip without the rolling resistance penalty of wider tires. 16" wheels clear all factory brakes including the Brembo option on late Mazdaspeed Miatas.

- Street Performance: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (245/40R17 square) — overkill grip for 167 hp, but the progressive breakaway and wet grip make it the best daily street tire.
