FORD MUSTANG (S550 & S650) FITMENT
The 2015+ S550 and 2024+ S650 Mustang represent a quantum leap for the platform. The switch to independent rear suspension opened up an entirely new world of aggressive wheel fitments that solid-axle Mustangs simply couldn't accommodate. Whether you're running a 2.3L EcoBoost, a 5.0L Coyote GT, a Shelby GT350 with the flat-plane Voodoo, or the supercharged GT500, these cars have deep, generous wheel wells that swallow massive wheels and tires. The result is one of the most rewarding platforms to build on — forged wheels transform both the visual stance and dynamic capability of the modern Mustang.
Quick Reference
Bolt Pattern: 5x114.3 | Center Bore: 70.5mm | Hub Type: Conical Seat | Lug Torque: 150 Nm (110 ft-lb)
Note: Hub-centric rings are essential if your wheels use a center bore larger than 70.5mm. This prevents vibration at highway speeds and ensures proper centering under load.
19" Staggered — Street Standard
19 inches is the sweet spot for the S550/S650 Mustang. It clears all factory brake packages (including the GT Performance Pack Brembos and the Shelby GT350's massive 6-piston calipers) and provides the widest selection of performance tires in aggressive widths. The deep wheel wells on the Mustang accommodate very wide wheels without fender modifications.
01
19" Aggressive Stagger
A properly filled, flush fitment that transforms the Mustang's profile from subtle to aggressive.
- Recommended Front: 19x10 ET35
- Recommended Rear: 19x11 ET25
- Street Tires: 275/35R19 Front, 305/30R19 Rear
- Performance Tires: 285/35R19 Front, 315/30R19 Rear
- Brake Note: GT Performance Pack Brembos clear at 19" with most spoke designs. EcoBoost/base GT models have smaller brakes that clear everything.
Why this setup: The S550/S650's deep wheel wells allow for a wide 11" rear wheel at ET25 without any fender modifications — the low offset pushes the wheel outward to fill the massive rear quarter panels that define the Mustang's silhouette. The 10" front at ET35 sits flush with the narrower front fenders. On the 5.0L Coyote (480+ hp in S650 spec), the 305mm rear tire provides the traction needed to deploy that power without lighting up the rears on every corner exit. The wider 275mm front improves front-end grip significantly over the factory 255mm spec.
20" Staggered — Maximum Visual Impact
For owners who prioritize the most aggressive street presence, a 20-inch setup maximizes visible wheel face and spoke design while still providing good tire selection in performance compounds.

20" Show & Street Stagger
The ultimate street and show Mustang configuration.
- Recommended Front: 20x10 ET35
- Recommended Rear: 20x11 ET25
- Tires: 275/30R20 Front, 305/25R20 Rear
Why this setup: The 20" diameter showcases deep concavity and spoke detail that gets lost at smaller diameters. The trade-off is reduced sidewall height, making the ride stiffer and the tires more vulnerable to pothole damage. Best suited for cars on smooth roads or show builds where visual impact is the priority.
18" Square — Track Weapon
For dedicated track Mustangs, the 18-inch square setup is king. It's lighter, provides more sidewall for curb compliance, enables tire rotation, and opens the full catalog of 200TW track tires in the critical 285–295mm width range.
03
18" Square Track
The definitive HPDE and time attack configuration for the Mustang platform.
- Recommended Size: 18x10 ET35 all around
- Track Tires (200TW): 285/35R18 or 295/35R18 Square
- R-Compound: 305/35R18 Square
- Brake Note: GT350 6-piston Brembos require careful spoke geometry at 18". Standard GT PP1/PP2 brakes clear all 18" designs. GT500 brakes may require 19" minimum.
Why this setup: A square setup completely eliminates the factory understeer bias that plagues the Mustang at the limit. Equal-width tires front and rear create a neutral balance where the car rotates on throttle instead of pushing wide. The 18" diameter saves 4–5 lbs per corner versus 19", and the taller sidewall absorbs curbing that would crack a thinner 19" or 20" tire. On a 3,800 lb car with 480+ hp, tire life at track speeds is a real concern — the taller sidewall manages heat better and lasts longer under sustained high-speed lapping.

Mustang Tire Selection Guide
The Mustang's RWD layout and significant power output demand tires that can handle high torque loads at the rear while providing confident front grip.
- Street Performance: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S — the benchmark. Excellent wet and dry grip with a progressive breakaway that suits the Mustang's rear-drive character.
- Street/Track Hybrid: Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 — excellent dry grip, firmer sidewall for crisper turn-in. Strong value for the performance delivered.
- Track Day (200TW): Nitto NT01 — the Mustang community's go-to track tire. Excellent heat management for heavy, powerful cars. Available in 295/35R18 and 305/35R18.
- Time Attack: Yokohama Advan A052 — highest peak grip. Transforms the Mustang into a serious track weapon.
- Drag Racing: Nitto NT555 RII — purpose-built drag radial for Mustangs making serious power. Maximum longitudinal traction for launches.
Understanding Offset on the Mustang
The S550/S650 Mustang has some of the most generous wheel well clearances of any modern sports car — you have significant room to experiment.
- Front ET30–ET40: ET35 is the sweet spot for flush. The Mustang's front fenders are narrower than the rears, so you need moderate offsets to avoid poking. Going below ET28 risks contact with the inner fender liner at full lock.
- Rear ET20–ET35: ET25 produces a flush, aggressive look. The deep rear wheel wells easily accommodate low offsets. ET20 creates subtle poke. ET30 tucks slightly for a cleaner look or to accommodate lowering.
- GT350/GT500: These models have wider front fenders than the standard GT, providing 3–5mm more outboard clearance at the front. Rear clearances are identical across all models.
