NISSAN Z (RZ34) & 370Z (Z34) FITMENT

The modern Nissan Z (RZ34) and its predecessor the 370Z (Z34) are built to be aggressive, wide-body sports cars from the factory. Both feature dramatically flared rear fenders that beg to be filled with low-offset, staggered wheel setups. The 5x114.3 bolt pattern is shared with a massive ecosystem of Japanese performance cars, giving you excellent tire and hardware compatibility. The key challenge on both platforms is balancing low offsets for visual aggression with sufficient clearance for the rear strut towers and brake systems.

Quick Reference
Bolt Pattern: 5x114.3  |  Center Bore: 66.1mm  |  Hub Type: Conical Seat  |  Lug Torque: 113 Nm (83 ft-lb)
Note: Hub-centric rings are recommended if your wheels use a larger bore than 66.1mm. This ensures proper centering and eliminates vibration at highway speeds.

19" Staggered — Street Standard

19 inches is the sweet spot for both the RZ34 and Z34. The wide rear fenders accommodate remarkably wide wheels, especially in the rear, and the 19-inch diameter provides the best tire selection in high-performance street and track compounds.

01

19" Aggressive Street Stagger

Fills the factory fenders to the limit without requiring any body modifications.

  • Recommended Front: 19x9.5 ET22
  • Recommended Rear: 19x10.5 ET15
  • Street Tires: 265/35R19 Front, 285/35R19 Rear
  • Performance Tires: 275/35R19 Front, 295/30R19 Rear

Why this setup: The Z chassis has some of the most generous rear fender clearance of any Japanese sports car. ET15 rear pushes the 10.5" wheel outward to sit flush with the dramatic rear flare — creating a visually striking stance that makes the car look planted and muscular. The 9.5" front at ET22 provides a flush front fitment that clears the front strut tower without interference. The staggered width biases grip toward the rear axle, which is exactly what a 400 hp (RZ34) or 332 hp (Z34) RWD car needs to put power down efficiently through corner exits.

19" Conservative — Tucked OEM+ Look

For owners who prefer a cleaner, more conservative stance — or who plan to lower their car significantly — higher offsets provide more inner fender clearance and a subtle, sophisticated appearance.

02

19" Conservative Stagger

A clean OEM+ fitment for daily drivers and those running lowering springs or coilovers.

  • Recommended Front: 19x9.5 ET30
  • Recommended Rear: 19x10.5 ET30
  • Street Tires: 255/35R19 Front, 275/35R19 Rear

Why this setup: ET30 provides a slightly tucked appearance that works beautifully with lowered suspension. When you drop the ride height 25–30mm on coilovers, ET30 sits in roughly the same visual position as ET15–22 at factory height — flush but not poking. This also provides maximum inner fender clearance, which is critical on lowered cars where the suspension compresses further into the fender well over bumps.

18" Staggered — Track Focus

For dedicated track builds, 18 inches reduces unsprung weight and opens up the full catalog of 200TW track tires. The Z chassis responds incredibly well to lighter wheels — the front end becomes noticeably sharper, and the heavier rear end feels more composed under braking.

03

18" Track Stagger

Optimized for grip events, time attack, and HPDE.

  • Recommended Front: 18x9.5 ET22
  • Recommended Rear: 18x10.5 ET15
  • Track Tires (200TW): 265/40R18 Front, 295/35R18 Rear
  • R-Compound: 275/40R18 Front, 305/35R18 Rear
  • Brake Note: Confirm 18" spoke clearance with Akebono calipers (370Z Nismo/Sport and RZ34 Performance models). Standard brakes clear all 18" designs without issue.

Why this setup: The taller 40-series sidewall at 18" (vs. 35-series at 19") provides significantly more curb compliance and tire deflection — critical for aggressive track surfaces. The wider 295mm rear tire on a 10.5" wheel provides enormous rear grip for corner exits. A forged 18x10.5 can save 5+ lbs per corner versus factory cast 19" wheels — on the front-heavy Z chassis (roughly 55/45 weight distribution), this rear weight savings is especially beneficial for improving corner entry rotation.

Z Car Tire Selection Guide

The Z's RWD layout and front-heavy weight distribution make rear tire grip the limiting factor in most driving scenarios.

  • Street Performance: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (265/35R19 + 285/35R19) — the benchmark. Exceptional wet and dry grip with a progressive rear breakaway that suits the Z's drift-friendly character.
  • Street/Track Hybrid: Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 (275/35R19 + 295/30R19) — excellent dry grip, firmer sidewall for crisper turn-in. Great value for the performance.
  • Track Day (200TW): Yokohama Advan A052 (265/40R18 + 295/35R18) — highest peak grip. Transforms the Z into a serious track contender. The wide rear 295 provides the traction these cars desperately need on corner exit.
  • Budget Track: Toyo Proxes R888R (265/40R18 + 295/35R18) — more forgiving and longer-lasting than the A052. Ideal for HPDE and driver's education events.
  • Drift: Federal 595RS-RR (265/35R19 + 285/35R19) — the drift community's standard tire. Predictable, affordable, and available in all the right sizes. Provides consistent slip angle with manageable grip levels for sustained drift.

Understanding Offset on the Z Chassis

Both the RZ34 and Z34 have generous rear fender flares that accommodate very low offsets — but the front is more constrained.

  • Front ET20–ET30: ET22 is the sweet spot for a flush front fitment at stock height. Going below ET18 risks contact with the front strut tower body at full lock. If lowered, increase to ET25–ET30.
  • Rear ET10–ET30: The massive rear flares provide a wide safe range. ET15 produces a flush, aggressive look. ET22 sits slightly tucked. ET30 is fully conservative/tucked. Going below ET10 requires fender work.
  • RZ34 vs Z34: The new RZ34 has marginally wider front fenders than the Z34, providing about 3–5mm more outboard clearance at the front. Both share identical rear fender clearances.
